Yuengling Traditional Lager - a smooth amber lager with toasted caramel malt, subtle sweetness, gentle hop character, and a crisp, balanced finish. Yuengling traces its history to 1829, when German immigrant David G. Yuengling founded the Eagle Brewery in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. The brewery later took the family name D.G. Yuengling & Son and has remained family owned through multiple generations. Recognized as America’s oldest operating brewery, Yuengling survived major challenges including Prohibition, when the company produced near beer and other products to keep the business running. Traditional Lager was introduced in 1987 and became the beer most closely associated with the modern Yuengling brand. Its amber color and fuller malt character helped distinguish it from many mainstream American lagers. Today, Yuengling remains deeply connected to Pennsylvania brewing history and is one of the most recognizable independent beer names in the United States.
