a light, crisp American lager with mild malt character, gentle hop bitterness, and a clean, refreshing finish. Coors Light was introduced nationally in 1978 by the Coors Brewing Company in Golden, Colorado, more than a century after Adolph Coors founded the brewery in 1873. Created as a lighter, lower-calorie alternative to traditional American lagers, it quickly became one of the company’s flagship beers. The brand leaned heavily into its Colorado heritage, building its identity around cold refreshment, Rocky Mountain imagery, and its famous “Silver Bullet” nickname, inspired by the beer’s silver-colored can. Coors Light later introduced temperature-sensitive packaging that changes color when the beer is cold, reinforcing its long-running focus on serving it ice cold. Today, it remains one of the most recognizable light beers in the United States and a major part of the Coors brewing legacy.
